I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again. (Oscar Wilde)
This is exactly how I feel after doing the editing, revising, rewriting, editing some more, re-reading, proofing, editing and then one more read through on our manuscripts. But I’ve seen the nightmare horrors of other self-published authors who thought that spell check was enough of an editing process. O__o Better to pour over the story for hours and hours to make it perfect, I think than to let it loose on the world before it is ready. It’s like going out to dinner but not putting your pants on! You’d better hope you have killer legs and clean knickers or it’s going to be a disaster!
